Live on video experiment: processing one of the patches patches from Falcon Singles – Bass Flute with Surreal Machine Diffuse, stepping though some custom presets and tweaking things here and there.
Processing one of my tom loops from Colliding Worlds for Groove Agent 4 (running in tempo-synced stretch-mode) with a multi-envelope controlled HP filter (and other things) in UVI Falcon, the envelope sequence was extracted from the same drum-loop. Basically this new function is a workaround for the missing audio input in Falcon where one could use the side-chain signal to trigger a follower which would modulate things.
Demo for an updated, soon to be released waterphone patch from my sound library Scattered Entity for Falcon (former MachFive 3) – the patch is now playing in multi-granular mode, plenty of Macros and some new FX were added.
Very cool. How does one determine the length of the generated multi-envelope? Falcon decides? Can one generate an envelope of equal length as that of the used sample?
As I understood it, Falcon will distribute the maximum of 256 multi envelope points in order to replicate the sample or Midi-sequence which was imported so the length should always match the original source, but that’s an early assumption which I have to double-check, as this new feature wasn’t beta-tested, so it’s brand-new to me as well.
The cool thing about the new d&d multi-envelope creation is, that now one can extract grooves from samples or Midi patterns which preserve the original (non-quantized) feel. And creating complex, non-rhythmical multi-envelope-shapes by dropping textural or abstract audio samples into the editor is also a big plus.
Dragging and dropping Midi sequences into the multi-envelope to create new envelope shapes, in the video I’m using the resulting envelope shapes on various parameters (WT phase distortion, filter cutoff).
Dragging and dropping samples or Midi sequences into the multi-envelope to create new envelope shapes is one of the new features in UVI Falcon version 1.4, in the video I’m using it on an FM operator.
If anyone at UVI is reading this, I would also REALLY, for real, like really, appreciate an Undo button. I save my patches all the time, but at least once a session—using the jog wheel or what have you—I accidentally change a parameter, have no idea what changed and have to reload. It is a bummer losing work. I test-drove Halion and their Undo/Redo function was invaluable. I used it constantly. That feature alone almost made me choose it as my sampler. The function is also very beneficial for A/B’ing sounds. My 3 cents …
As this is the “unofficial” Falcon forum, don’t expect the UVI developers to read this, if you want to make sure, they do, send them an e-mail to their support address.
thank you soo much..you have inspired me
My pleasure.

The lack of inter-modulating oscillators in Falcon is a pity really. I requested it a few times during Alpha/Beta-testing but it seems to be a huge endeavour for the developers as they would have to change some fundamental things in the entire audio-structure of Falcon. So I doubt we will see it anytime soon.
Welcome to the forum.
Maybe you should have a look at lua scripting here
Dragging+dropping new samples into existing keygroups is totally possible, everything stays intact, just the sample is replaced (and the loop is lost too of course, in case a loop was set in the existing sample).
Better a hack than no hack, no?
It is possible using the workaround in this article:
A combination of modulators, filter, effects and oscillators can only be saved as a normal preset, you can load presets as layers in a program though if you want to try out alternative settings within a preset, then you can just copy/paste a given keygroup to the respective layer and check out how things sound with the alternative FX settings. All other presets (e.g. FX/filters) are static snapshots without the attached modulators.
Hi and welcome to the forum,
There is nothing like keygroup-presets in Falcon. You can save/load oscillators as presets – e.g. a multi-granular oscillator with all the parameter settings.
IRCAM STRETCH wasn’t designed for real time playing unfortunately, they can’t optimize the engine any further they say, so playing single notes will have to do 🙂
Thank you.
Two patches from the Texture-folder in Falcon Singles – HANG in ambient action, some Macro/modwheel and volume automation. I’m aiming for Monday to release this, maybe earlier.
