is wavetable FM possible?
-
Hi guys! I just bought Falcon a couple of days ago and just started digging in to it.
I was wondering if it’s possible to add FM from one wavetable osc to another in a similar manner as in Serum or VirusTI?Simple answer: no, not possible, there is no inter-modulation between oscillators in Falcon, it has been requested many times since the release (and before), so maybe one day the devs will implement something. I would also like to modulate samples with other modulators and vice versa, some synths out there can do it…

Sampleconstruct.
To add to the above: the only cross-modulation in Falcon can be done in the analog stack oscillator -> SYNC modulation.
Thanks for your answer. I hope they get this implemented soon 🙂
Where does one voice out these types of requests or bugs? Is this the official forum for doing such things? Thanks for your answer. I hope they get this implemented soon

There is no official UVI forum, thats’s why we founded this unofficial Falcon forum. One of the Falcon developers is a member here, so he will probably read your request sooner or later, you can always send them an e-mail on their support page.

Good to know that there is at least one UVI guy on the forum 🙂
Will send them an e-mail when I’ve used it a bit more and got to know it better (and make a little list 😀 ). Would be cool to be able to use Falcon as an FX unit as well. (I know this has been requested earlier as well)Please let us now when ever you get an answer from UVI, this is a great feature that is missing from Falcon 🙁
Hi all,
I noticed this post because I have requested a feature like this to UVI. Glad to see others miss it too.
The lack of inter-modulating oscillators in Falcon is a pity really. I requested it a few times during Alpha/Beta-testing but it seems to be a huge endeavour for the developers as they would have to change some fundamental things in the entire audio-structure of Falcon. So I doubt we will see it anytime soon.
I am also involved in Beta. I have requested a feature like this as wel quite recently. Some FM features could be involved in future updates. Not sure how it will be implemented though

That explains a lot
Hey guys, sorry for leaving u waiting all this time. I’ve been really busy since I bought Falcon and posted this thread, so I haven’t had the time to go into depth with Falcon and become familiar enough with it to write a proper request to the developers. But I finally got the time to fiddle around and get to know Falcon, so I’ve just sent this request to the developers:
Hello,
I’m the happy owner of UVI Falcon and I’m for the most part extremely happy with it. I just miss the possibility to make wavetable FM synthesis like it’s possible in ie. Virus TI and Xfer Serum.I understand it would be hard to implement inter-modulation between oscillators in the structure of Falcon, but I have an idea how we can get the same result fairly easy (I think/hope).
My idea is to make a new modulation source: An HFO. Like an LFO but using frequencies in the audible range.
The HFO should have the possibility of choosing wavetables and other complex waves beside the standard waves included in an LFO.
It should also have a key tracking ON/OFF button to serve as SYNC. I think an ON/OFF button is the way to go, to ensure the frequency of the modulator is in pitch with they pressed key. Maybe with a transport knob for ± 1 or 2 octaves.the HFO can then be used to modulate pitch or phase of any oscillator and the desired wavetable FM synthesis would then be possible 🙂 And I’m sure it also will open up the way for some other crazy sounddesign as well!
Best hopes,
DanielPS. an undo-button would also be highly appreciated!
I hope both u guys and the developers of Falcon likes my idea and will implement it sooner or later 🙂
