Portal & anti-virus issues

I’m using Portal to download Vintage Vault and it’s taking forever.
The FAQ on the website says to make sure that your anti-virus software is not interfering, and I’m getting constant pop-up messages saying that malware and other stuff has been detected from Portal, so I think mine may be affecting the downloads.
All the messages say it’s coming directly from the Portal.exe file itself, so I’ve added that file to the exclusion / allowed list in my anti-virus software, but it’s not helping. Any ideas what to do?
Unfortunately UVI is famous for slow download speeds and has been for years now. They seem to use amazon servers but probably the content is not distributed equally around the globe or they are trying to save some cash on the wrong end. If you’re lucky you will experience fast dl speeds occasionally but overall it’s really slow.
