The prob kept coming back with wave files. Very discouraging and frustrating to say the least.

Just bought Recycle from Propellerhead to create rex files. That seemed to do the trick so far, fingers crossed. All in all I conclude that Falcon does a lousy job slicing and playing back wave samples. You’ve gotta use rex files, which costs you another $99,= to buy Recycle to create them.

What a lousy mess, but at least I think I’m fine for now. I consider this a bug.

    Dear ones, Sampleconstruct & others.

I have been fiddling along with keygroups. One for left channel, one for right channel. My aim is to have L & R triggered by one and the same midi note from my host application, so I put both keygroups on the same key on the keyboard. That doesn’t work. Is there a way to have both the L and the R sample being triggered by one and the same note? Or should I put L @ C3 and R on C#3 or something like that? In the latter case I’d have to use two different midi notes for one and the same drumtrack. How do you guys deal with this?

Thank you Sampleconstruct, that explains something. Still wondering how to use stereo waves, but I can sort that out I think.

    Thank you 🙂

Hell I think I’ve got it.

It’s 2 mono samples loaded at the same note. It says “simplebreakbeatL.wav” and “simplebreakbeatR.wav” in the same edit. Looking at my sample directory, it’s all mono samples, each breakbeat a L and a R wav. So that doubles the amount of files.

I remember having issues with bouncing before. What I must have done for this song, can’t recall exactly but I think, in Falcon, in the browser window at the right, I selected the L and R sample of a breakbeat, and drew them both to the edit window, on the keyboard inside the Falcon program. Don’t know if that works. Now I also remember stereo files being played in mono, but I’ll have to create all samples again to be sure, in stereo, because as of now I can only find mono samples in my sample directory.

Apparently dragging two mono samples into a keygroup doesn’t work, although the edit shows a left and a right section. But both waves there look exactly the same.

Hmm, that’s gonna be a lot of work, mixing and bouncing all samples to stereo waves again. Done that before, but it never worked so I don’t know what happened. Apart from that, I can’t find the stereo waves back on my drive.

Hi Sampleconstruct, thank you for answering.

I always put Falcon on a stereo aux track, and have no fx on the sample. So it  puzzles me that the samples are still being played in mono. Also in the edit window, although there is a L & R section of the sample, beneath eachother, the waves there look identical.

I shall take a look if the samples are actually stereo or mono in another editor, although I know I bounced them as a a stereo wave. I’ll keep y’all posted.

Well I don’t know how it could have been of any help, but inporting a rex file did the trick. After I did that, it plays wave files correctly again too. I’m glad the problem seems to be solved, but the solution used seems just as ungrounded as performing a blessing. The issue may come back any time. Paul Watkin’s comment may contain a key, but it will be an endless search i guess if the problem returns. I may gonna have to find out how to create rex files from my sliced waves, no clue or whatsoever. For now, thank you al who chimed in and good luck making music.

Thank you paulwatkins929, for your explanation. Interesting how to quantize slices and alter timing on purpose. Sounds like it gives more control over playback, plus an explanation could be that some of those adjustments are done automatically, and indicates that ome setting should have to be done in order to get things right, that the samples are now altered because Falcon would refer to a setting that easily can be changed.

    Thanks again 🙂

    Note:

Rex files are played flawlessly (breakbeat.rx2 ie). Wave files get altered simply on monitoring the sample with the play button in the lower right corner, beneath the sample browser. While writing this post, I loaded a rex file and deleted it. Then I loaded a wave file and it plays seemlessly again . Not any problem. I’m baffled once again, but I suspect this won’t be a permanent solution, just like the little temporary miracle with the prayer. But it might provide some clues on the nature of the altered playback event and point in the direction of the solution.

[edit] the solution may be to create .rx2-files from my drumsamples so as to have a permanent consistent playback. The question will then be; how do I do that?

Well, it appeared that the blessing had its effect but only temporarily. Miracles do exist, but they don’t last long. The problem is back, the drumsamples are being altered and completely ruined again just on opening the sample. I can keep praying and blessing forever but if the problem keeps coming back, it looks like I need some more rational, technical assistance.

Had I said that I use Falcon 2.8 yet? I upgraded from 2.1 and 2.6 to 2.8 in order to get rid of the problem, and of course to have the latest version, but to no avail. I selected one note shot in the preferences, and I deselected it, tried both options, makes no difference.

So dear Sampleconstruct (if that is your name on this forum) and everyone reading this, can you please chime in to shine your light on this? Looks like I am the only one having this issue, which, presumably, makes it more difficult to tackle it. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    Thank you.

You won’t believe me, but I did a prayer for my system, performed a ritual and gave it blessings & some reiki and now it works. Isn’t this odd? Don’t ask me how it’s possible but even the gear responds to energy & intentions.

You’re welcome to research though how the slicer works for you. I think it is a really cool feature, there’s got to be some rational explanation on why it didn’t function. But you can have a couple of  drumtracks recorded in a studio, bounce them to .wav and use the samples in your compositions in various tempo’s. Might you need it.

So far so good, the problem’s over now but please keep me posted. This might be a bug indeed. It occurred in Falcon 2.0, 2.6 and lately in 2.8, to provide some details.

    Kudos,

    Walther.
